The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar

The Ministry of Tourism and Heritage has the following main responsibilities:

1. Supervise and develop Tourism with the aim of increasing National income and citizens' economy;
2. Promote tourism both domestically and internationally;
3. Preserve, protect and develop all historical areas in the country;
4. Collect revenue from services provided in Historical Areas and the Tourism Commission;
5. Coordinate project development, monitoring and evaluation of development projects through the Tourism and Antiquities sector;
6. Prepare Policies, Laws and strategies for developing the Tourism and Antiquities sector as well as supervise their implementation.
